About Your Angiotensin Receptor Blockers
It’s easy to identify whether you are taking an angiotensin receptor blocker. This class of antihypertensives have names that end in –sartan. These drugs include:
- candesartan
- eprosartan
- irbesartan
- losartan
- olmesartan
- telmisartan
- valsartan
They're an alternative to another class of antihypertensive – the ACE Inhibitors.
Here are some things you should know about your ARB.
- It shouldn't cause a cough like its closest alternative, the ACE Inhibitor.
- You should take the medication at the same time each day.
- You should avoid sudden changes in position to avoid sudden hypotension and lightheadedness
- It may cause dizziness.
